How to avoid the "blocked content" nag in XP2 when opening local files in Internet Explorer.

When previewing HTML output created by SAS on Windows XP service pack 2 using Internet Explorer, you need to click on the "allow blocked content" popup to get the page to display properly. Can this be avoided?

Yes it can, although it should be pointed out that in doing so, you slightly increase the risk to your network from viruses, trojans and other malicious code. However, if you have reliable and up-to-date virus protection, the increase in risk is vanishingly small.

I am grateful to Chris Olinger for posting the solution on SAS-L.

In Internet Explorer, go to Tools | Internet Options | Advanced. Scroll down to the Security section. Make sure that "allow Active content to run in files on My Computer" is checked. That should do the trick.
